Events on sustainable restoration and use of renewable materials in Ukraine with experts from Berlin and Kyiv and students from Kyiv In the spirit of a material exhibition, a light folding screen structure is created from the materials presented to each other and their applications; played by the various experts, each with an element made of their material. (each 2.00 x 1.00 x 0.40 m). The construction will be shown in the foyer of the KNUCA after the exhibition and at the end of the year in the communities that will be involved in the project. The structure may also be shown at the German Architecture Center Berlin afterwards.

Memorandum
A cooperation agreement was signed between the initiator and curator of HOPE HOME • НАДІЯ Adrienne Goehler, the architect and project manager Ukraine, Sofia Galat, and Maksym Kashuba, head of the military administration of the Mykolaiv district, to start in this district with the natural building materials as an example in the village of Pervomaisk and, together with residents, to repair, heal, rebuild and design teaching and learning houses using these materials.
Ecological construction. How cooperation between Berlin and Kyiv is bringing traditional materials back into architecture
The German-Ukrainian project “HOPE HOME•НАДИЯ”, initiated by Berlin-based curator Adrienne Goeler, aims to solve all these global problems. She came to Ukraine with her team and teamed up with Kyiv architect Sofia Galat to promote eco-practices in construction. The project has already held dozens of online workshops and organized an exhibition of natural building materials in Kyiv. In the future, they plan to spread ecological practices in the communities affected by the shelling. “HOPE HOME•НАДИЯ” is a niche artistic initiative that has grandiose plans. PRAGMATIKA.MEDIA spoke to the project team and learned how hemp, clay, reeds and mushroom mycelium can be used to create a raw material base for a major reconstruction.

Clay, wool, mushrooms: a project with an alternative approach to reconstruction is being launched in Ukraine
The pilot project is being implemented in the Mykolaiv region. An exhibition of eco-materials is being held in Kyiv. A pilot project «radical and different reconstruction» is being launched in Ukraine – it is proposed to transform the construction industry through a circular economy and use renewable, hybrid and recycled building materials. HOPE HOME – HOPE combines artistic and scientific approaches to the use of natural materials such as straw, hemp, clay, wood, wool and mycelium mushrooms. These materials offer sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives to the traditional construction industry. Currently, the construction sector can hardly be called sustainable and environmentally friendly: it is responsible for almost 30% of global CO2 emissions, 40% of energy consumption and 60% waste generation. The project starts with an exhibition of eco-friendly materials in Kyiv. The exhibition and master classes will be held from 25 to 29 September at the Chamber of Architects, Borys Grinchenko Street.

Utopia and Apocalypse
On the aesthetics of sustainability
Through exhibitions, campaigns and projects, Adrienne Goehler advocates a free exchange between science, art and architecture, which she considers essential for a comprehensive and cultural understanding of sustainability. As a former Senator for Science, Research and Culture in Berlin and curator of the Capital Cultural Fund, she knows not only the mental blocks, but also the institutional hurdles that often stand in the way of such collaboration. As the initiator and curator of the pilot project HOPE HOME • HAДІЯ, she is committed to ecological and artistically inspired reconstruction in Ukraine.
