HOPE HOME – НАДІЯ
A pilot project for a radically different way of building in Ukraine
Start of winter: first hemp construction walls for Pervomaisk NOW
HOPE HOME – НАДІЯ is a German-Ukrainian pilot project for radically different – ecological – construction in Ukraine; it has quickly become the center of a transdisciplinary network for the use of renewable building materials and deals with the entire spectrum of sustainable construction: from the necessary soil decontamination to the cultivation of organic building materials, the reuse of materials from demolished houses to model house construction with hemp, straw, wood,clay and thatch, mushroom and wool, as well as issues of certification and scalability.
Just two months ago, in late summer, we presented how we work with these renewable, CO₂-free building materials, with combinations of the materials with each other through a material show and workshops at the Kyiv Chamber of Architects, and have signed a memorandum with the military administration of the Mykolaiv district. Representatives of the village council of Pervomaysk, Mykolaiv oblast, have invited us to start repairing and healing the destroyed main school and community center in order to encourage young families to return. Pervomaysk wants to become a hub for research into ecological construction using renewable, hybrid and recycled materials. Due to the provisional financial management in German Politics, even minimal public support can no longer be expected before June 2025.
But winter is NOW spreading, we know from all the news channels what the energy supply situation is like in Ukraine and that so many houses offer no protection. That is why HOPE HOME – НАДІЯ in Pervomaysk NOW wants to set symbolic and material signs against abandonment and fill the memorandum with its first concrete life.
One of our team partners, the Kyiv-based company Hempire, will travel there with prefabricated hempmaterial and organize workshops with the local people and volunteers from the region. After this intervention, there should be two safe, dry and warm meeting rooms.
Because the residents there need a sign of our support, our empathy and the experience that we are not just making promises for an indefinite future, but are putting the memorandum into practice.
We have heard the urgent call for help;
renewable energies in all their meanings are needed.
Thank you if you support us.
EVERY SUM HELPS!
And please share the appeal!
