Phase 1:
Insgesamt in total 15 Workshops, digital.
The first Zoom workshop series has been running since March 2024 – at least Sept. 24, in which we each present a material and the use and state of research with it in the two countries/universities; We all see the diversity of skills that we bring together on both sides as the solid foundation for cooperation. This first project phase is largely financed by funds from the Allianz Foundation, Heinrich Böll Foundation Kyiv, Federal Agency for Civic Education
Phase 2:
a. Travels:
7 people from each team will meet in Kyiv from September 20th to 30th, 2024. 8 days of getting to know each other and working on the further development of the project. As the southern regions are again increasingly under Russian fire, the focus of the meeting remains in the relatively safe Kyiv; instead of the planned excursion to the Mykolaiv Oblast, the head of the military administration, Mykolaiv District, Maxim Kashuba and his colleague Helen Ivanova will come to Kyiv with possible future residents for a first major meeting. The aim is to identify communities that want to become part of the HOPE HOME • НАДІЯ project, to get to know the local conditions for the processing of
renewable building materials and the local competence and
needs structure. Start of the basic investigation and preliminary planning.
b. Exhibition:
in the sense of a Material show in Kyiv, in the Federal Chamber of Architects; a light screen structure is created from the materials and their applications presented to each other; played with by the various experts, each with an element made of their material. (each 2.00 x 1.00 x 0.40 m) The construction will be shown in the foyer of the KNUCA after the exhibition and at the end of the year in the communities that will be involved in the project. The structure may also be shown in the German Architecture Center Berlin afterwards
The material exhibition will be accompanied by face-to-face workshops by experts with students,
a guided tour during the opening of the exhibition.
c. Start of the material and application reader:
trilingual, based on the workshops, on a DYI basis, which should be available for the construction period and will be expanded during the construction period (Phase 4).
Phase 3a:
from spring 2025-27; Make houses habitable again with the different building materials, supplement them, heal them. Set up experimental sites together with students, laboratories for pre-production and manufacturing of the building materials, get to know the local conditions better, cooperate with existing companies and continue researching composites.
In preparation, the winter months will be used with students to produce building blocks made of different materials A social sculpture is created.
Phase 4:
Beyond the individual construction projects village/street/shelter house/material shed, the foundation stone for a different serial, C02-free and neutral construction. Practical application of the accumulated knowledge by building prototypes and other types of interventions, with pupils, students and teachers, craftsmen and residents, with the aim of writing a chapter of future, C02-free and neutral construction history.
